……a silly bus !

…all the great men ride…

…..all the great men decide….

….not one reaches anywhere….

……as they are riding on thin air….

…then the silly bus ….has  this…to decide :

….”let me take these schooled babus …for a ride” !!!

Is school a monster ?

SCHOOL IS A MONSTER ?

 

Is School A Monster ?

This is a question that we all must answer…

Ask any average school going child

    Is school harsh on the ‘system’…or is it mild !

   ( you’ll get your answer !)

When school is meant to teach and to educate

   then why is it  seen as a monster… let us investigate ?

Poetry in Education…….In-Verse-Education

 

       IN.VERSE. SCIENCE

 

 

Whenever we do some work , for instance

We move some force, for sure, through a distance

 

well , distance , as you know , is speed x time

so if you are lazy & slow … you shall never be on time !

 

A see-saw is all about loads and a fulcrum

and friction is the reason… boxes cant roll like a drum…

 

when someone fires a bullet…the gun strangely pushes back

it reacts to our action…as does the punching sack !

 

To steal a juicy …ripe …red apple….a depravity

but when the apple falls down….ah ! it is gravity !

 

often there is found a great deal of confusion

between the nuclear fission  and a thing called fusion

 

but fission is the parting…a sort of breaking

and fusion is the joining….a kind of match making !

 

Now balancing of equations is a very daring act

but BALANCING & EQUATION ? ..a contradiction in fact !

 

so next time when you write about a chemical react

learn valence and the weights…that is the tact !

 

In the Lab…do not forget dear litmus blue

and if it turns into red….it is an acid…for true

 

If you find a white crusty thing on your bread in the school

it is fungus…like an algae… a scum in the pool

 

 

So if you want a scientific temper….don’t ever lose your cool

keep on asking questions….even when… everyone thinks you are a fool !!!!

WHO DECIDES THE SYLLABUS ???

 

 ( A question was  once raised somewhere in this grand world of Academia )

Who should decide the syllabus ?

    and academics sang in a thunderous chorus

” WE…WE…..We……Oh  ! What a simple question !

              …as we are the ones who KNOW….no question !!!

….then a small …puny  little boy finds some gumption

    this he asks from the pundits …and masters of assumption :

” Why do you think that you know  what’s best ?

      why do you think that ….you guys are the best ?”

…academics hate this interruption…they are not used to this !

         as they make all their decisions …based on some nineteenth century hypothesis !!!

DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCHOOL AND A BACK BENCHER …

School : ” take out your book of poetry …and open page forty nine !”

Back Bencher : ” I have got it ! do you want me  to read the first line ?”

School (not too pleased) : ” How come you are so quick today…are you all right ?”

BB : ” Oh….I am fine…its just that I got a rap on my knuckles last week… was real tight !”

School: ” Ok …Ok…what do you have to say about the poetic meter in this poetry ?”

BB : ” Er….meter ? ….I thought we were going to read a poem….or is it some gadget….. oh my ! ….oh my!”

School ( getting very angry ): ” Its enough…this tomfoolry….you’ve got to be serious…..”

  ” we are trying so hard….learn !! come on !!! ….have some mercy on us !!!”

BB (at sea ) : “Ah ! What did I do…..I thought poets wrote from the heart !”

              ” I am quite confused at this measuring of meters in ART ?”

School (disgusted) : ” What do you know about poets…you dim wit  !”

                    ” What they wrote was sublime….now  we have to make it simple…dont you get it ?””

Back Bencher (facing the on lookers) : “What a mess….these schools….I cant figure it out !”

   ” In the name of education….they want to make us meter-readers…no doubt !!!”

POETRY IN EDUCATION….EDU POETRY !!!

 

  “PLEASE BOOT DIFFERENTLY”

We have had  a lot of fun

                  with ‘our’ mundane education

in our BOOT DIFFERENTLY sessions

                 where all the tediously blessed lessons

      in scary maths and  difficult-to-remember chemistry

                                  were ‘overpowered’ shall we say….

                                          by our powerful EDU POETRY !

    BOOT DIFFERENTLY is a strange acronymn

              OOBT is OUT OF BOX THINKING….but it is fun

students and their parents …and sometimes the teachers too

     have BOOTED DIFFERENTLY…….and all have learnt…. sometimes…. a thing or two !!!

                               

CREATIVITY IN EDUCATION ?

Creativity in education

                 is  simply a question

                            of the need for introspection

                                   for the schools in conjunction

                                         with the authorities who sanction

                           budgets and much more (not to mention !)

                                                … CREATIVITY IN EDUCATION

                                                IS SIMPLY A QUESTION

                                                OF A RELOOK AT THE ‘FACTION’

                                 WHO DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

             BETWEEN CREATIVITY….AND ACADEMIC ‘PERFECTION’ 

                                                     

                                     

HOMER….HOLISTIC MENTORING FOR EXCELLENT RESULTS

Right from the time I remember, we have been talking/listening of REFORMS in education….. user-friendly……play-way….. and right-brain ……  these are a few fashionable words used by ‘pioneers’ of this reform movement…!?!

 

 

….and yet …. youth is scared of the academics ! 

 

….everyone seems to be studying/striving for grades …and the lust for KNOWING is missing !

 

As a result….there are pressures…..not only during student days….but throughout life !

 

HOMER is an attempt to focus on the joy of learning…. poetry …crosswords etc. are a few proposed process-facilitators…..and it is my belief that once we befriend the ‘curriculum’ …not see it as a monster….. then not only joy…but marks/success shall also follow….in abundance !

A thing about education one has to always remember

 it is not to learn in Jan  and forget by December

We all, when we grow up, recognise this faulty logic

  of wasting our best years in merely learning the trick

 

of getting good grades…of mastering the rote

and not really learning   ….anything of note !

what if instead we look at the schools

as great places to explore…not creatures of rules

 

what if instead we don’t study…..just for examination

then we shall surely…live ….a life full of elation !!!
