POETRY IN EDUCATION

Hullo everyone…….

 

I have always believed that formal education is too FORMAL…….

….and it educates , only but a little…….

……but makes all of us into experts at ROTE….

 Let me share with you a ….poem I had penned down…..and used it for student-teacher workshops in High Schools…….

…..results were amazingly encouraging……but schools did not accept the RADICALISM…….as,of course ….they are SCHOOLED !!!

SAMPLE POEM : IN-VERSE-MATHS

 

IN.VERSE.MATHS

 

 

         

 

                    

 

  Length x breadth is the area of a rectangle

     and a half (or quarter), in fact, is that

                     of a triangle                    

                 

        So ½ base x altitude is the formula for this           and if you are smart ….nothing else you shall miss

                

       Twice (length+ breadth) is of course                the perimeter   and 100 cms , as you know, always makes a meter

                 

         

                    Pie R squared , strangely is the area of a circle

               and circum frence, in fact, is like a fence round a circle

                 

             Metric units are made up of tens …hundreds and zeroes

                 while HCFs are small… LCMs …larger than life heroes

 

                Factors of a number….are…in fact its offsprings

                  a+ib , though numbers…are very complex things

 

           BODMAS    is a scheme…a sequence for computing

             and multiplication is to add and add…without disputing

 

          Algebra…..like alchemy…is about finding the unknowns

            and geometry is the study of cubes , arcs and cones

 

           Mathematics is simple , dumb , straight and pure logic

            putting two and two together is the only needed trick !
